Literature Text

Shadows linger, bring forth my rage
Tempest dreams focused on my demise
Make my anger my undoing
Helpless as i am to ease your pain
The cause is within me
I do nothing to evoke your hatred
Yet you remind me of it every chance you find
Bite back my retort
Smile and move on
My life is less than perfect
Yet you see what you want
Change on the horizon
I accepted reform and left
You're still dancing the waltz that never ends
Feeding your own depression
By means of hurting me
You say you don't want to harm me
But don't you see you do
In every fevered attempt
To listlessly pry me open
You choose to read my smile as love
You fail to see my eyes
If you would take the time to look
Seas of unshed tears you'd find
Fire, poverty, illness, and death
And the dreams I've had before
Wear my mind and soul to nothing
My only escape is found in two
My love, and then there is you
This is a poem that I wrote in trying to deal with a bit of a falling out I've had with a really close friend of mine. The short version of it is hidden in the poem itself. The rest is just me ranting.
